FUNCTIONS
The nutrients in Nutri-Logic Plus support the structure and function of cognitive processes in several ways. They support neurotransmitter metabolism, enhance vascular circulation to the brain, and help maintain structure and function of nerve cell membranes.

Ginkgo biloba: Flavonoid compounds and terpene lactones in the ginkgo leaf help regulate the structural tone and elasticity of arteries and capillaries. As powerful antioxidants, the ginkgo flavonoids counteract the deleterious actions of free radical accumulation which impairs functional cellular energy production and nerve transmission. Ginkgo biloba extract is also reported to inhibit the tendency of red blood cells to stick together (“clumping”), thereby enhancing the functional fluidity of the blood. Improving the functional circulation to the brain and other parts of the body allows for better oxygen and glucose uptake, with subsequent enhancement of memory and mental functions. Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 is essential for normal energy metabolism of carbohydrate, fat and protein. As a cofactor for methylmalonyl-CoA mutase enzymes, vitamin B12 helps convert odd chain fatty acids and branched chain amino acids into succinyl- CoA, a common citric acid cycle intermediate.

Vitamin B12 is also required for nucleic acid (DNA) synthesis, methionine synthesis from cysteine, and normal myelin synthesis in the nervous system. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to central nervous system impairment, including cognition.

Folic Acid: Folic acid is a water-soluble essential B vitamin found in many foods, including leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits and beans. It has important roles in the body, including its involvement in the maintenance of the nervous system.

Phosphatidylserine: Phosphatidylserine (PS), a phospholipid nutrient, is active in cell membranes and is the major acidic phospholipid component in the membranes of the brain. Membranes are the working surfaces of every cell, carrying out the essential functions of cellular communication and hormonal signal transduction. Nerve cells, in particular, depend on healthy membrane function for normal neurotransmitter metabolism and nerve signal transmission.

Lecithin: Lecithin is a primary source of phosphatidylcholine, which is used to repair and maintain nerve cell membranes. Phosphatidylcholine is also a major constituent in the synthesis of myelin, the insulating sheath around nerve cells that helps ensure effective transmission of nerve cell activity. Proanthocyanidins: Proanthocyanidins are highly regarded for their strong antioxidant properties and their role in supporting the body’s connective tissues and capillary blood vessel system.
